Rotherham United vs Sunderland [15:00 BST]

The Black Cats continue their quest for promotion from League One with a trip to South Yorkshire to face Paul Warne's Millers, who are themselves bidding to return to the Championship at the first attempt following their relegation last term.

Sunderland go into the game in fourth place in the table, one point and one place above Rotherham - and with a game in hand of their opponents.

Lee Johnson will have Elliot Embleton available again now the midfielder has completed a three-match ban, but the Black Cats' head coach has also warned that he may be forced into a couple of 'key changes' this afternoon.

Elliot Embleton returned to Sunderland's starting line-up at Rotherham United.

The midfielder was available again after serving a three-match suspension and Lee Johnson restored him to the Black Cats' side in place of Alex Pritchard, who has been playing through the pain of a neck injury recently and was left out of the matchday 18 altogether today.

Johnson had made a raft of changes for the midweek Carabao Cup win at QPR, but his team against the Millers looked more like the one that began against Charlton Athletic last weekend.

Embleton's inclusion was one of two changes to the side against the Addicks, the other seeing Leon Dajaku start in place of Aiden O'Brien, with the latter dropping to the bench.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne also made multiple changes in midweek, in his case to the side that won in the EFL Trophy.

But he reverted to the side that began last weekend's league win at MK Dons, with the exception of one enforced change.

On-loan Sunderland striker Will Grigg was ineligible to face his parent club, so Freddie Ladapo came into the side.

Sunderland: Hoffmann, Winchester, Flanagan, Doyle, Cirkin, O'Nien, Neil, Dajaku, Embleton, McGeady, Stewart

Subs: Burge, Evans, Alves, O'Brien, Gooch, Wright, Wearne

Rotherham United: Vickers, Edmonds-Green, Ihiekwe, Harding, Ogbene, Rathbone, Barlaser, Wiles, Ferguson, Smith, Ladapo

Subs: Johansson, Wood, Sadlier, Miller, Bola, Kayode, Odoffin

Tottenham - West Ham
Arsenal - Sunderland
Brentford - Chelsea
Liverpool - Leicester

We got a jammy draw, seems like Liverpool and Chelsea will still be there in the semi final. Hopefully West Ham will knock the yids out.

There's a quiet excitement about this young Arsenal team. I haven't felt this confident about them putting in a good performance in years.
13 Name: Anonymous 2021-10-30 14:47
>>12
Not sure how you can be that confident mate. They've put in something like two good performances all season (Spurs, Villa). Everything else has been either passable or shite.
14 Name: Anonymous 2021-10-30 14:48
I just randomly remembered that Szczesny used to play mind games with penalty takers by saying how he shagged their daughters, what a nonce.

holy based

this Arsenal team is really starting to flourish under Arteta
What is wrong with these commentators? We were utterly abysmal against Palace and just as bad against Brighton. How do they forget that? It would absolutely not be a surprise if we lost today, we're fucking terrible
16 Name: Anonymous 2021-10-30 14:51
Hoping for a draw today lads, we have to remember we’re a mid table l1 club playing a recent l2 winner full of confidence.

I will set off walking to the KC stadium shortly, so I can watch us lose to Cov and walk back home.

McCann't has made a few changes tbf. We've won both games Josh Emmanuel has started, our only two wins so far lel. Still 4-3-3 FC probably though

Liverpool have won 5-0 in their last two Premier League games, beating Watford and Man Utd. They are looking to become the 4th side to win three top-flight games in a row by 5+ goals, after Aston Villa in 1899, Chelsea in 2010 and Man City in 2017.
