Sunderland vs Accrington Stanley [League One]

Sunderland vs Accrington Stanley [15:00 BST]

The Black Cats have started the campaign in excellent form, with head coach Lee Johnson scooping the manager of the month award for August.

But John Coleman's Accrington are currently joint leaders at the top of League One, having played a game more than the Wearsiders.

Sunderland could name several debutants today in what is the first game since the transfer window closed last week.

Deadline-day signing Ron-Thorben Hoffmann made his Sunderland debut, starting in goal against Accrington Stanley.

The on-loan Bayern Munich man replaced youngster Anthony Patterson in Sunderland's starting XI, with that the only change made by Lee Johnson to the side that began the league win against Wycombe Wanderers a fortnight ago.

Patterson dropped out of the matchday squad altogether, with Lee Burge included on the bench as backup for Hoffman after recovering from a hip flexor injury.

There was no place in the squad for Sunderland's other deadline day arrival, winger Leon Dajaku.

But midfielder Corry Evans was fit enough to be included amongst the subs after almost a month out of action with a hamstring problem.

Accrington boss John Coleman made two changes to the team that beat Shrewsbury Town last time out.

James Trafford replaced Toby Savin in goal, while Dion Charles came into the starting XI at the expense of Joel Mumbongo.

Sunderland: Hoffmann, Winchester, Flanagan, Doyle, Cirkin, O'Nien, Neil, Gooch, Embleton, McGeady, Stewart.

Subs: Burge, Huggins, Evans, Alves, Broadhead, Pritchard, Wright

Accrington Stanley: Trafford, Sherring, Sykes, Butcher, Pell, Bishop, McConville, Nottingham, Charles, Clark, Morgan

Subs: Savin, Hamilton, Mumbongo, Leigh, Nolan, Amankwah, Malcolm

Hi, so I recently picked up a copy of FIFA 14 and 20, and also started watching soccer (just a few games) and I really like it. The problem is how deep it all seems to be, I don't know where to begin to become a proper fan. I figured I'd start with FIFA 14 and learn the game that way, but there are lots of controls, rules, tactics and whatnot that I'm feeling overwhelmed. Is there a primer or guide or something for a new FIFA (and soccer in general) fan? A youtube series maybe? I just want a path to follow.

Thanks.

Is there any team near your area?

Pick a team (Sunderland for example) and try to learn everything you can about them. Watch and read about their (historical and current) players, owners, transfers, managers, tactics, rivalries, etc. You'll learn about other teams and players in the process too.

Youtube channels like Tifo Football are great for this(ignore his social messaging videos though). Go to local soccer games.

Playing 20 is prolly better since u will learn relevant players and teams.

I remember the feeling, bought fifa 13 after Chelsea bayern final. I knew shit all about football except that goalie can use hands to get the ball.

Game is won with quick passes (l1 +x), crosses, through balls and strength on fifa.

In real life it is won with players receiving and controlling the ball in tight spaces and critical areas where the they can mount pressure (wingers and dbacks storming the flanks without a defender awaiting a through pass to get a cross in for example )

Best player now that can control such space is definitely De Bruyn. Defence has improved from 2006-10 era so things like ankara messi and Ronaldinho dribbles are just not possible anymore.

If you see some bad NTs play like Russia for example you can see how clueless their attack is, since they are not mounting any pressure or getting the ball in those critical areas to get a shot or a dangerous pass in. Their tactic to beat Spain in 2018 was Park and pray which can sometimes work (celtic v Barcelona)

First you have to know the football leagues, each country has a league with different teams (not more than 20 teams per league)

Theres spanish league, italian league, english league, french league (a total joke), german league, portuguese, etc.

at the end of a league (between may and june) the teams in the last 3 positions descend to the second division, which is a "level below". Each match gives a team a chance to win 3 points, 1 point or 0 (3 if wins, 1 if draws, and 0 if loses) the one with most points win, and if two teams end up with the same ammount of points, the one who scored more goals througt the tournament wins.

The team finishin first wins the league, and the top 3 teams play the champions league (a torunament where the "best" teams from each country play) so the winner is denominated as the best team in the world.

so, choose a country you like, choose that league (only first division, lol) and choose a team, from a city you like, or for the team's history, don't pick a team because they're good and win, don't be a fag.

matches are every weekend, sometimes wednesday and friday

anything else?

fifa 14 is kino, it was the first game that had the argentine ligue and the music is really fucking good, tied with 19 for the best soundtrack. If you want to win in this specific game spam headers, even if you don't know what you're doing you will score eventually they are OP here but they got nerfed in later games.

North East derby in the National League North, Blyth Spartans v Darlington.

Darlo manager Alun Armstrong used to manage Blyth
deliberately let Blyth's best players contracts run out knowing he had secretly agreed to take the Darlington job at the end of the season
takes all the out of contract Blyth players with him to Darlington, leaving Spartans with a squad of 5 and having to rebuild
Blyth spend two years in the shit as they didn't get any compensation for the departing players and had no playing budget
Blyth are finally good again and Darlington have now gone to shit
massive crowd expected to give him a warm welcome and probably key his car at half time

Kevin-Prince Boateng disowns half-brother Jerome Boateng
I've distanced myself from Jerome for a long time. I value and respect German law. I abhor violence against women. I don't identify with my brother's actions and that's why I no longer have anything to do with him.
So KP was the good guy and Jerome was the bad guy all along
