Blackpool v Sunderland [League One]
Blackpool vs Sunderland [ GMT]
Peterborough's win at home to Northampton means the Black Cats are now eight points adrift of automatic promotion and face an in-form Blackpool side this afternoon, who have not lost in their last 15 league games.
Sunderland head coach, Lee Johnson, issued a rallying call to his side yesterday morning saying they'd 'die in a ditch' for three points.
However - like most of the season - the Black Cats face an injury crisis at the back with Bailey Wright the only fit centre-half at Johnson's disposal.
Today's opponents, Blackpool, say the pressure is firmly on Sunderland to avoid three straight defeats.
The Tangerines are the in-form side in the division and the Wearsiders will certainly have to be at their best to get a result this afternoon.
Blackpool vs Sunderland team news - Grant Leadbitter returns to Black Cats XI
Lee Johnson made three changes to the side that lost at Wigan Athletic in midweek.
With Dion Sanderson injured, Grant Leadbitter came into midfield which allowed Max Power to move to right-back, and Luke O'Nien switched to central defence to fill the gap left by Sanderson.
Callum McFadzean came in for Denver Hume at left-back, while Aiden O'Brien started instead of Jack Diamond.
Chris Maguire was included on the Sunderland bench, along with Hume and Diamond.
Blackpool boss Neil Critchley made two changes, in his case to the side that drew at home to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.
Chris Maxwell; Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel; Daniel Ballard; Daníel Leó Grétarsson; Luke Garbutt
Elliot Embleton; Kenny Dougall; Grant Ward; Sullay Kaikai; Jerry Yates; Ellis Simms
Burge, Power, Wright, O'Nien, McFadzean, Scowen, Leadbitter, McGeady, O'Brien, Jones, Wyke
