Hi north americans. I'm spanish. How do you describe your behavior towards foreigners? Are you nice people or just a bunch of racist jerks like the stereotypes suggest?
2 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-23 17:15
i usually just ignore non english speakers
3 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-23 17:48
Totally depends where you are. The average person gives waaaaaaay less of a fuck than you might think.

My college has a fuckton of foreigners, my dorm is next to this Welsh chick. They're all really nice people on campus.
7 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-23 19:29
Depends on how annoying you are

You would think we were racist, but in reality we just hate needy foreigners. You wouldn't be smart enough to realize though.

No. As with any country on the planet, it depends where you are. But Americans have a general attitude of being polite to strangers, but each person is going to stop being polite fast if you're annoying or pushy. Just smile, and be polite and you'll be fine.
Also don't get too personal with Americans. Not a lot of foreigners get this, but Americans have a reputation for being very private, which is why a bunch of us scream when we think our privacy is being violated.

Also don't talk about politics or the merits of one country over another. I've known like two people from Spain and both of them would constantly blab about politics. Don't know if that's common over there. That's a fast way to get a lot of Americans to silently hate you without you knowing depending on whether or not you share their views.

So, that means you seem distant and cold but in fact you like having your space, right? Well, we are very close with friends and family, we like contact very much.

Are you like japanese people or they are in another level of privacy?

I'm ok with foreigners; I just don't like mass migration because it's bound to end in disaster and you can't really be sure what the quality of each migrant is until it's too late, since there are so many coming at once.

Yes it is. But the difference is that we openly hate each other, not in secret, when we talk about politics.

No, just that way with strangers, and acquaintances. But yes, like Japanese people, which is why we seem shallow when we suddenly change our demeanor and seem rude to others.
Just don't try ask questions that require people to go in depth about themselves. Great example is when some foreigners ask an American what their salary is. That's the stereotypical "rude foreigner" question here. I can't give you a rational explanation as to why we view that as rude, but it's a cultural thing.

Japs are way different, they want at least 10 feet while we usually want about 4

I've never understood that, personally. I'm American and I can think of quite a few acquaintances who've told me more than I ever wanted to know. If anything, I wish people here were more private.
19 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-24 00:49

Because asking a stranger their salary is rude as fuck. Also the person asking might work the same job and be paid more. Which the person asked might get upset and start a shit show with their boss.

As a foreign, i consider that a very rude question too. I mean, you don't fucking care how much i earn kek. I understand that. That is rude even if a close friend ask that to me.

But yes, like Japanese people, which is why we seem shallow when we suddenly change our demeanor and seem rude to others

Yes, some friends of mine who went there told this about you. Some of them are very hurt and confused about this attitude. But i think is because you are very private with your stuff.

Also us Americans are constantly trying to under cut and under pay their employees. They want people with years of experience to work at entry level pay and long working hours. Also Americans are competitive at everything, we will either silently or openly try to one up each other. Which often leads to massive debt and other problems. Basically, be polite, don't ask about politics, salary/hourly pay, how their home life is. You will find most American's are friendly. Just don't be discouraged if some or many ignore you completely. If your English isn't understandable, you will be either made fun of or ignored. And for the love of God, don't try to sale random bags of fruit in store parking lots. It's annoying as fuck and makes you look homeless.

Your labor laws are very flexible. We have a legislation that is rigid and punish such behaviors.

Also Americans are competitive at everything, we will either silently or openly try to one up each other

That explain a lot of your economy i think.

Got it. If you make fun of me because of my way of talking, i probably kek too for my retardedness or just give 0 fucks.

Now, if i make a very intimate american friend, can i ask him more private things (f.ex. politics or home) or it is just the same like if we never knew each other?

I only leave my house to work or get soda. If you're foreign I probably won't notice
26 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-24 03:54
Most of us are nice people, don’t take 4ct's nepol in it lol.
27 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-24 04:28
Generally speaking, really depends on what country your from. Most people find it interesting as long as you're a sound and reasonable person, other people will blatantly be prejudice because they're pussies. Asking /b/ this question is going to lead to bias from a small minority of bigots that don't understand sociology or economics so they think you're the problem even tho they're shooting themselves in the foot.

That is acceptable. It's okay to talk sensitive politics within your own group of friends but in public it's an area of "let's talk about something else." Unless you're autistic and push politics on random strangers for no reason, you should be fine.

No, i'm aware of it. Politics can be a very trouble topic anywhere.

Most americans are really stupid and can only speak english (sometimes a bastard version) They can get really mad if you dont speak it when they are around bc muh exclusion. Their inferiority complex shines very well bc they think they are from the greatest country but some pablo or ling ling from a third world country can speak more languages than them

Just dont try to get closer with any of them and you are done

You are nothing but a bunch of cuck faggots whose men are really gay underneath it all. That’s what makes a Spaniard. You fuckers all make me sick to my stomach. Fuck Spain.
