Not the dying part, but the wanting to burn everything you own and go live in the forest?

Let's be honest.

For most people here, myself included, living in the forest would work out about as well as it did for McCandless.

That is, slow death by starvation.

I did until I looked at the numbers, just doesn't make sense. even if you don't run into trouble, going out there, busting your ass in the rain and the snow, when carrots and beans could be had at the store for a dollar or two.

My current plan is just to get a cheap home in the US and live off my investments

No, Alaska is a miserable place no matter the season & mosquito's love me too much

I think "Mostly Harmless" is a way cooler story, go walk the Appalachian Trail till you autist-freakout so long you die alone in a tent from starvation.
Hollywood will definitely be picking that story up, casting a fellow woman abusing dickwad like Shia Laboufff

Not when you use that idiot as a reference point.

Not at fucking all. I can go camping if I want to get into nature. He was escaping from a situation he felt confined to. I'd rather just build my own life of purpose then absolutely removing myself. One of his last writings was that life was meaningless unless shared.

Absolutely, without burning anything though. Id love to stack up supplies for a few years and disappear into some uninhabited woods near a river and just be.

This guy actually died the day I was born. It's fate, really.

When I was younger, I sold everything I owned and hopped freight trains around the country for 4 years. I stopped in a city I could see myself in, and 16 years later I own my own business as a legal contractor for private investigators. Traveling was some of the best and worst times of my life, and at the time, I thought I would be riding trains forever. I still have my old pack and get the urge to do it every once and a while, and it's comforting to know that I can be happy with nothing.
