Why are google alternatives so fucking awful?

I mean Bing/DuckDuckgo/Yahoo and whatever niche search engine is always far far weaker than google, and yes i'm complaining exactly because google does shady shit like using my searches/data, but i still have to put Google as my main search engine again, so i guess i have to use a VPN.

What are your complaints with ddg? I have been using it for a few months now and have zero issue.

DuckDuckGo always worked for me.

This. DDG actually gives me decent results especially for copy-written or archived stuff. Google scrubs alot of relevant stuff.

I'm glad you had a better experience with DDG, but i always felt that it wasn't able to find as much stuff as google, a lot of times when i was searching for things on ddg, i literally had the need to try again on google

Yeah google is the easiest of whatever. But they filter your results so bad. Just google something, then use bing or DDG. You will likely get different results with each one. Especially if it’s something spicy.

If i have to search porn, i don't use a search engine because i already know the sites, but i have to admit that there's less porn filtering on Bing/DDG so that's a point for them

If you like google search and hate google, use searx.space and go use a public instance of it. They scrape google's searches and don't have the tracking attached to it. But its not user friendly at all so might suck

I don't really think the problem is the search engines anymore. I think the internet itself is getting more and more centralized and watered-down that the weird fringe websites you used to be able to google simply don't exist anymore.

Ddg is acceptable, but still somewhat worse than google in some regards. It's because google has been a player on the market for decades now. They had time to index and optimize their code, which obviously makes use of your personal data to make your results more relevent. Since ddg doesn't track you, it's harder for it to know what you want.
Still, i still use google for everyday searches, but when searching anything remotely political, i use ddg. Google is so pozzed its not even funny.
