Unsolicited packages with shipping labels from China.

1 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-26 07:12
Dozens of people have reported receiving unsolicited packages with shipping labels from china and jewelry listed as the contents. These packages have been received by people across the US and the UK. The actual contents of the packages are unlabeled seeds. https://i.imgur.com/K9b82BH.jpg

Found this thread on google, because I am very concerned by this. Why would they send unidentified seeds to random people? And why label them jewelry?

The most innocent answer I can come up with is smuggling for non-nefarious reasons like avoiding import taxes or something. But then, why send them unsolicited to random people?
4 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-26 07:56
Do you guys know what kind of seeds are they ? Weed or something else ?
5 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-26 08:13
https://i.imgur.com/2IHQ9Uc.jpg

Why label them as jewelry? Someone is more likely to open an unsolicited package if they think there might be something valuable inside. And if they're too cautious and just toss it in the trash, someone pulling it from the trash is more likely. It also makes the package a more likely target for theft. And what do these people do when they find out it's only some seeds and not jewelry? They toss it.... in the trash, on the ground, in the park, out the window of their car. Never considering what these seeds might produce.

And now I bring you my true concern. We are in a cold war with China. China knows that it doesn't stand a chance of winning a hot war with the West without greatly reducing our ability to make war. These seeds might be a part of a biological attack. It may be something as mundane as introducing invasive species of weeds. To the far more nefarious like genetic modification. The seeds could introduce pests, diseases or be harmful to local plants and animals. The worst case scenario to me is genetic modification with the intention to contaminate the local population with genetics aimed toward such things as: poisoning bees and other pollinators, increase susceptibility to infection and pests, turn crops toxic to humans and livestock.....the nightmare list goes on forever. https://i.imgur.com/qfvOsBq.jpg

My friend from California received them a while ago, he's curious on how they got his address, but my take is they probably got it from wish. com 's databases or any random china seller website like AliExpress. Be very careful with those seeds, as mentioned by other Anon, china and usa aren't exactly in a good mood

People buy packages of seeds because they are bored with corona and because of seed shortages in US. Some get lost and get sent to different people. Chinese sellers also often create fake orders so they can give themselves positive reviews, but they have to send them out because, for example Alibaba, checks if something is actually being sent.

They are tagged as jewellery because, such as other random tags("gift") they have lower chance of being stopped at border.

But the seeds that have been coming to US have all different places of origin and are of different kind.

The only thing that really incenses me in this picture is that the idiot author used "HERRO" indicating this person cannot pronounce the "L" sound properly, fair enough it's a common joke... but the very next word is "AMELLICA" which indicates the exact opposite problem with pronunciation. It doesn't make any sense. It's dumb and I hate it.

Seeds are illegal to sell internationally hence why labeled jewelry. Likely the closest feeling thing to seeds is gemstones to pass inspection. The seeds themselves look familiar. Ive seen them before in chinese markets.

Keep in mind that most Chinese companies and people dgaf about this "cold war". Chinese people if you know them only give a shit about money. They dont care about human rights because of money. They build cheap shit because of money. They have a god of money. And our only fucking holiday is about money. Even the Triad wont do shit unless it involves money.

Believe me whatever the reason they are doing this involves money and HIGHLY unlikely its another stupid conspiracy like wayfair or 5g.

China has always been tit for tat nation. You do x to me il do exactly x to you. So highly unlikely a government level intended attack and more likely a company level screw up. If China wanted to fuck with America sending suspicous seeds to people in the hopes they plant it and 10 years later grow into a malicious plant (wtf would that even be? ) Is far fetched. They would simple impose fucking tariffs. This is the same level with bill gated and vaccines. Why the fuck he needs to inject people with nanomachines that dont exist to locate you? You have a goddamn phone pinging your location at all times. Stupid fucks everywhere.

Do you happen to shop on Wish? I think it was Wish that my boss used and started getting a bunch of cheapy little packages she never ordered. In a nutshell, it's a weird ploy by sellers to pad their sell numbers or something like that. They just send things to people who didn't order stuff and use it to make themselves look better. She got stuff like a phone case that wasn't even the right size, hair ties, and some other little things like that.

its because they don't have either sound in their language, they only have one thats kind of in between (eg ㄹ), so when either L or R are approximated using that sound, it sounds too much like the other.
31 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-26 15:22
I got two the other day: Both seeds that I actually did order on Amazon, and they do look like the seeds I ordered. The labels are in Chinese characters, but one says 40, and my seed orders had one with 40 seeds. They are labeled as jewelry, probably because the people sending them don't know English and that English word worked before.

Maybe they sent some to the wrong address, again because they don't know English and just copied some address they used before.

They take about 6 weeks, though, so I'm not going to order seeds from China again.

My uneducated guess

They send hundreds (or more) of these packages at once with random seeds. Only a small handful will be recovered by them and those might have drugs or something. But all the extra similar packages might make them harder to detect

36 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-26 16:46
There were over 20 reports of these packages in Utah alone. These were addressed to the the addressee, not shipped to the wrong house by the post office. They are unsolicited. This isn't people forgetting they ordered seeds or ordering seeds and not expecting them to come from China.

I see citrus seeds, pepper seeds, possibly some poppy seeds, possibly amaranth seeds, flax seeds....lots of different seeds I can't identify.

If these are released into the wild, pollen from them could contaminate local plants of the same species. This would spread like a pandemic if it isn't realized in time. The Chinese have been playing with genetic engineering for years.

How does this make sense at all. Assume few of the seeds actually mature into fruiting trees. Those trees then have to pollinate orange orchards however miles away, and pollinate a significant portion at that. And this has to happen across over most of the orange orchards in the United States, of which there are thousands

It's this and other artificial inflation of company value.
For exmple
company that moves more product is typically doing better (cash flow/market interest/etc)
how do you prove you're moving more product?
inventory counts are easily fudged
payment records too
those are both internally kept records
but
here are shipping confirmations
shipping receipts
because nobody
fucking nobody

this isn't just a US thing
getting caught falsifying shipments is your ASS
so they aren't "false"

who's to say the correct things are shipped to the correct address 100% of the time

I got cherry trees and a crate of seeds with a letter in the worst English I've ever read. They were shipped as brooms and jewelry. It said something to the effect of, since the US government isn't taking care of it's people that food aid in the form of seeds would be incoming. Then it thanked me for using wish.

I have a feeling the Chinese government is spreading propaganda that we're all starving or something and people on wish are sending random food seeds to people in a weirdly indirect attempt to "save the poor Americans" I've got a couple fields resting this season, so I could theoretically try planting the seeds and see what grows. The cherry saplings seem happy enough in the pots they came in.

i can only advise anyone getting plants or seeds from china to not plant them, not eat them and if possible not even open the package, but instead incinerate anything.
you do not know what genetic or poisonous treat you're getting there, and spreading it on whatever soil you are living on would be a bad idea.

Be China
Hate Monsanto/Bayer stranglehold on GM crops
Make Chinese GM crops
Send to other countries for free
Idiots plant them
Eventually those plants cross-polinate with food crops
Demand genetic testing of crops near areas you sent seeds
Patented DNA shows up in crops
Farmers used your patented DNA without permission or license
They sell their farm to you for pennies on the dollar to avoid being sued to hell
Start owning swaths of land in other countries that produce their food
Now control food production for other countries
64 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-27 00:33

Could be. Doesn't do me much good though, since my crops have been out since march and I'd rather rest the fields I'm resting this year so I can rotate next year. At the moment the seed crate is chilling in storage. Planting them would have to be by hand since the seeder is set up for the crops I actually grow (corn, soy, and squash) and fuck that shit.
65 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-27 00:49
>>63
Doesn't work like that, I'm afraid. There's also the issue that most of the seeds they send aren't going to be compatible pollinators with what's being grown.

Monsanto did this for decades in the US and Europe.
They patented DNA sequences for seeds that they'd sell.
When pollen from one crop pollinates the neighboring crop, they would sue and force farmers into giving up their crop plus punitive damages or settling by selling their farms for pennies on the dollar.
Monsanto ended up with a lot of holdings from this scam.

Monsanto has political power in the US and Europe. China lacks that, especially given that they're sending people seeds unsolicited. The US has already shown that they don't give 2 shits about genetic copywrites from other countries when russia tried that shit.

A better plan would be to ship out Chinese made Monsanto genetic seeds to ruin the company's monopoly.

77 Name: Anonymous 2020-07-27 04:07
100% just a way to cover Chinese scam. Sellers will post shoes and other expensive looking things for 5-10 dollars so dumb people will buy it. They ship this stuff out to people and use same tracking numbers on multiple items. Most people who get scammed by this will not bother filing a claim to get $5 back. It may seem like it’s not profitable but even if 1000 people are scammed and don’t make a claim they made a killing.

Its most likely part of a money laundering scheme.
Some chink has a shit load of illegal cash that needs to be cleaned so starts a business selling "jewelry" sends out seeds that are basically free to fandom addresses he finds on the internet whilst claiming it was a 2000 chink monies ring or something. money in bank, packing and shipping receipt so everything looks legit on paper.
Might cost him a small bit of postage but hes cleaned a chunk of his cash.
Or its just some nutter sending seeds to people
