SATA should plug and play with the right usb adapter, if you're trying to use the drive on the SATA bus that might be your problem

im not sure what you mean by sata bus, im using this, and its hooked onto the SATA drive. The SATA drive was from an old laptop i grew up with years back, that I removed from a laptop that didnt seem to be working anymore.

Im not sure what you mean by sata bus so i just am trying to explain my situation to you.

i will get back to you in a bit and will try to follow that

type
automount disable
automount scrub
what does this do?

you don't need to type "type"
just
automount disable
automount scrub

these cmds prevent new volumes from being mounted automatically and clear drive letter assignments, if a drive is having issues not initializing correctly or locking the system up when you try to seek it disabling these while help you run the tools needed for recovery
